Friday Progress Update, Dec1: "No name yet"

Good day, Ladies and Gentlemen.

Today it's Friday again, and that means it's time for the Friday Progress Update!

There's not much to tell you guys about though, since it's less than a week since the 0.12.4 update dropped. I've started writing on the script for the next update and ... Well, I've started writing on the script for the next update.

Someone did ask about the writing process though so I guess I can fill up this update with some of that! When I write an update, I first do an outline on the content, just a few lines, like 10-12. It might look like this:

MC wakes up, makes calls. Chris, Jas, Ash. Picnic agreement with Ash. MC in master bedroom. Beth+Miko. Miko short skirt, Beth drops brush intentionally repeatedly. MC drives to pick Ash up. New car. Yay. Beach with Ash. Beth+Sandra there. Bikinis. Yay. Twist Beth's neck too far in one scene! Bla bla bla

And that's it. After I think I have notes to fill an update, I start the actual writing. I write in the format of render short description + the dialogue/narration, then on to the next render. These are all subject to change later. It's written in pseudo Ren'py code to make converting it to actual code later easier, like this: scene miko holds out brush for beth miko "Here, Miss." beth "Thank you, Girl."

scene beth combs hair, talks to mc beth "Have you noticed our Maid's new skirt?" jack "It was hard to miss. Or easy, depending on how you look at it."

scene beth smiles happily beth "I think it's absolutely delightful. She says it's a temporary solution while the regular one is in the laundry."

scene beth dismissive, miko looks down beth "Nonsense, I say. This is now the regular one, and that's that. Maybe we can even find some more enhancements to her uniform."

scene beth happy talk beth "I do love frills."

During rendering, the scene bla bla is replaced by picture names, like "scene day12_time1_pic113", and as I render, I rewrite some of the dialogues too, sometimes changing things because I can't render what I wanted to and have to compromise, or I have other ideas or whatnot.

I don't have any particular number of lines per render. I did notice that the last update, even though it was over 100 renders more than the previous, was only a little bit larger in dialogue. Thus, less words per render. No idea if that's good or bad. It just turned out that way.

Phew, that got wordy. Sorry about that. I might aim for a bit smaller and faster update for the next one, so you guys don't forget I exist. I think this update was the first one I didn't (yet anyway) recover the support I lost between updates. Sadface.

Anyway,  have a glorious weekend and thanks for the support!
